Wow…guys I did it. I finally did it. A couple hundred hours and two years later, I finally proved to my friends that I could draw all 649 Pokemon(+extra forms). Not only that, but I did so traditionally. Pardon my bragging, but I feel like I have a small right to, at the least.

If you guys hadn’t noticed, I had purposely put water on the bottom of each region so that I could connect them all like this in the end. I think I may have mentioned it in one of the other pictures, but I don’t remember. X’D

For each picture, I wrote out (by hand, it helped with memorizing each Pokemon and stuff) every single Pokemon in that region and their exact heights. I then went through and starred every Pokemon below 3 feet tall and underlined every Pokemon over 6 feet tall. I would also circle Pokemon that could be swimming and put cloud-shaped circles around Pokemon that could be flying. When I had my list categorized like that, I would begin organizing each Pokemon onto the piece of 9x12 inch paper. They all look like blobs to begin with, so I would label them so I knew which one was which. After I finish organizing all the blobs, I would pretty much triple check to make sure I have every single Pokemon.

Then, I would begin to slowly sketch each Pokemon in. Once in a while, when I’m sure that there were no mistakes, I would outline a cluster of Pokemon that I had sketched so that I wouldn’t smudge the pencil. And believe me, I SMUDGED. A LOT. Once everything was sketched and lined, I did another check through before I started coloring. I prefer to go one Pokemon at a time (or an evolution line at a time, since they share colors) and in Pokedex order to ensure that I don't miss a single one. The worst part about coloring is trying to figure out which line belonged to which Pokemon, especially the ones in the background. I spend a lot of time adding lines that I forgot or scrutinizing others to figure out what they were. I always find a couple lines that shouldn’t be there, which really sucks. But it’s all traditional, and I don’t have the luxury of layers and unlimited erases and undoes. I just have to be very, very careful.

It feels pretty great to have finally finished this! When I finished, my suitemates were so excited that they were taking pictures of me and posted things all over Facebook, so I got pretty excited too. Then it really hit me that I finally managed to finish this crazy project of mine. I was really excited when I first decided to start this project two years ago and had told my best friends about my idea. They all thought I was crazy and told me that I would never see this through to the end. I think they were half-joking at the time, but I was pretty insulted that they did not believe me (especially my bestest friend ever). So, excitement turned into determination and I set out on my own little version of a Pokemon Journey to prove them all wrong. Operation “Gotta Draw ‘Em All” was a go.

They were pretty surprised when I first finished Kanto. It was only after I finished Johto that they realized I was actually VERY serious about finishing this. I’ll admit, I slacked off with Hoenn, but I forced myself to keep going. At this point, a couple of my friends were actively encouraging me. By the time I finished Sinnoh, they all thought that I was going to finish and were excited for me too. I had a very hard time with Unova, but from the support of my new friends as well, I managed to pull through.

It seems odd to thank my friends for their lack of support, but really, that’s what drove me to keep going. But seriously, I love you guys! Thanks for all the support you did give me though and to everyone who followed me through every step of the way!

But yes, I TOLD YOU SO. HAH. I GET TO GLOAT. HEAR ME GLOAT.

So that’s it. I’ll be selling each region individually at FanimeCon 2013 and Anime Expo 2013, but you can connect them yourself! When I figure out how to print this out as a banner, I will be selling that too.

Yeah guys, I’m doing Gen VI too. But I’m going to wait until the second game in the series comes out so I can see every Pokemon there is in that region.
